About EducatedOn

EducatedOn is an AI learning platform where courses, tests and learning materials are managed in Umbraco.

EducatedOn runs its tests and learning materials in Umbraco, with content settings and AI features handled in a separate AI app. Courses are also delivered in SCORM environments, where learner results must be reported back.

The platform relied on an existing Umbraco package that needed a refactor. EducatedOn asked OSKI to fix result handling and bring AI generation into the place editors already work.

The challenge

What had to be solved

The work touched learning standards, legacy code and two external AI services at once.

  • Process and store SCORM results correctly so courses report learner progress.
  • Refactor and update the existing Umbraco package.
  • Generate text with ChatGPT for text string, textarea and Rich Text Editor fields.
  • Create images with the Stability API and insert them into Umbraco content automatically.
  • Stay stable on Umbraco Cloud across many integration points.
The approach

How the team built it

Fix the data first

The team rebuilt SCORM result tracking and storage, so courses running inside SCORM environments report learner results that EducatedOn can rely on.

Clean up the package

The existing Umbraco package was refactored and extended. That gave the new AI features a stable base and made later changes easier.

Text where editors type

OpenAI generation was added to text string, textarea and RTE fields. Editors request copy right in the editing UI instead of switching tools.

Images without manual uploads

Images are generated through the Stability API, uploaded to Umbraco and placed into the content automatically. Everything was checked for full Umbraco Cloud compatibility.

The outcome

What changed

Editors now produce course content faster, and future changes to the platform take less effort.

  • SCORM results are tracked and stored correctly.
  • Editors generate text with AI directly inside Umbraco.
  • Generated images land in content without manual uploading.
  • Content creation became significantly faster.
