About Auto.co.il
One of Israel's largest automotive websites, publishing road tests, a priced car catalog, expert opinions, comparisons and user reviews.
Auto.co.il is one of Israel's largest automotive websites. Readers come for road tests of new and used cars, a large catalog with prices, expert opinions, comparisons, launch coverage and user reviews.
The previous version had an aging interface and an admin built on a custom CRM that editors found awkward. For the third generation, the owners wanted more engagement, more leads and simpler content work. OSKI designed the architecture and built the core of the new site.
What had to be solved
The rebuild had to move a large dataset, keep search fast and protect years of SEO.
- Manufacturers, models, years, generations, versions, specs, articles, reporters, reviews and comments all lived in a legacy CRM database.
- Visitors needed quick catalog search by manufacturer, model, engine, range, category and price, plus fast article lookups across many pages.
- Editors wanted a simple way to add cars and compose block-based articles.
- Lead forms for consulting, test drives and financing offers had to connect to third-party systems.
- The site had to be mobile first, meet WCAG, allow SEO control per page and redirect every legacy URL.
How the team built it
OSKI proposed the architecture and core content structure on Umbraco 15 and .NET 9, then built the catalog business logic and a central advertising system on top.
OSKI built every pipeline that pulled data out of the old CRM database and imported it as about 100,000 Umbraco nodes.
Catalog and article search run on Lucene, with custom caching layered over Umbraco's hybrid cache.
Custom back-office extensions add dedicated editors, boards and extra pages. Frontend components are written in Lit with TypeScript.
OSKI handled WCAG work for keyboard, ARIA and screen readers, and set up dynamic image optimization with ImageProcessor. The team also ran deployments, code reviews and mentoring.
What changed
Auto.co.il launched its third-generation platform on a modern Umbraco stack.
- About 100K content items moved from the legacy CRM into Umbraco.
- Catalog, comparison and article pages draw on one fast search layer.
- Editors add cars and build articles in a back office designed for those tasks.
- The site is built for WCAG accessibility, and legacy URLs redirect to their new addresses.
