Why it exists

The problem it solves

Comparison posts such as 'top companies for X in Y' need research on each company, a consistent structure, logos and a header image. Assembling that by hand takes hours per post and is hard to keep consistent across a blog. umBlogGenerator does the research, drafting and page building inside Umbraco and places your own company in the article.

Typical uses

  • Publishing 'top providers' comparison posts for a service company
  • Building regional comparison articles for many countries from one template
  • Keeping a consistent structure across a large set of SEO blog posts
  • Adding a company CTA block to every generated comparison

Features

What umBlogGenerator does

Topic to article

Enter a topic, the number of companies and optional context. The tool drafts a structured comparison post.

Peer research

It finds and checks peer companies for the topic and lists your featured company first, using the details you entered.

Logos and preview image

Company logos are imported into the Media library from direct URLs or the company homepage. A preview image can be generated with an OpenAI image model.

Publish mapping

Map the document type, Block Grid property, default parent and element types once per site, or detect the mapping from an existing page.

Company section template

Define which sections the AI writes for each company, such as key highlights or services, and their order and format.

CTA after the featured company

Insert a call-to-action block after your company, either fixed content or AI-filled heading, description and button text.

Background jobs

Posts generate in the background with progress, cancel and a post history, so long runs avoid proxy timeouts.

OpenAI or Claude

Keys can come from the Settings screen, appsettings.json or environment variables. Stored keys are never returned by the settings API.

Contact us
Is umBlogGenerator free?+

Yes. No license key is needed. It is free to use but not open source, and AI provider costs are yours.

Which Umbraco versions are supported?+

Umbraco 17.3 and later 17.x releases, on .NET 10.

Does it work with my existing blog?+

It needs a document type with a Block Grid property. You map that type and its element types once in Settings, or detect the mapping from an existing page.

Which AI providers can I use?+

OpenAI or Claude for the article text. Preview images use OpenAI image models when configured.

Is the featured company researched by AI?+

No. The details you enter for your own company are used as they are.

Why can't I see the section after install?+

Umbraco hides new sections until they are allowed for a user group. Add Blog Generator to your group and reload.
